Education

Rick graduated from the University of Texas in 1990 and then went on to earn a Juris Doctorate degree from Baylor University in 1993. After law school, Rick began working for the Denton County District Attorney’s Office in February 1995. In December 2002, he became board certified in Criminal Law.

Career

Rick has been with the office for 28 years and has been assigned as a criminal trial lawyer in numerous misdemeanor and felony courts. He is currently the Chief of the Appellate Division. The Appellate Division researches and prepares opposition to appeals of criminal court convictions, parental termination cases, juvenile dispositions, and post-conviction writs. The division also conducts legal research and advises and assists trial court prosecutors.
