Captain Orlando Hinojosa, known as "HINO," graduated from Sam Houston State University in August of 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement & Police Science.
Captain Orlando Hinojosa started his law enforcement career with the Denton Police Department in October 1986 as a Patrol Officer. He was transferred to the traffic section in January 1988, where he spent many years enforcing traffic laws, investigating crashes, and making Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrests. Captain Orlando Hinojosa was one of the first motorcycle officers in the early 1990's.
Captain Orlando Hinojosa was promoted to Detective and eventually became the Community Resource Officer, where he was a big part of the Denton Community. Captain Orlando Hinojosa was very involved with the citizens and businesses of Denton, attending many events and participating in numerous public outreach programs. Captain Orlando Hinojosa retired as the Public Information Officer for the City of Denton Police Department. In January 2017, he began his career with The Denton County Sheriff's Office as the Community & Media Relations Captain, where he currently attends and participates in events throughout Denton County. Captain Hinojosa also oversees Crime Stoppers, Volunteers in Policing, Citizen's Academy, Juvenile Impact Program, Explorers, and the Woman's Empowerment Program.
