Denton County Vaccination Clinics Thursday and Friday Cancelled Due to High Wind

Severe Weather Update (3)

Denton County Public Health’s (DCPH) drive-thru COVID-19 vaccine clinics scheduled for Thursday, October 28th, and Friday, October 29th, are cancelled due to forecasted high winds.  National Weather Service (NWS) Fort Worth forecasters advised models show increasing wind speeds during clinic operation hours Thursday and Friday, causing safety concerns for attendees, staff, and volunteers.

“Our National Weather Service colleagues continue to be a critical planning partner for our booster clinic operations,” said Denton County Judge Andy Eads.  “After reviewing updated forecasts from NWS, high winds in excess of 40 miles per hour create safety concerns for all on-site requiring us to cancel drive-thru clinics on Thursday and Friday.”

Once additional clinic details have been confirmed, DCPH will send additional messaging with links to self-schedule new appointments.  Individuals can also get booster doses from primary care providers and/or pharmacies, as vaccine supply is readily available in Denton County.

“The safety of our community members, staff, and volunteers at our outdoor clinics continues to be our highest priority,” stated DCPH Director Dr. Matt Richardson.  “We look forward to providing booster dose appointments as soon as we’ve confirmed new dates and times.”
