[ARCHIVED] Denton County Weekly COVID-19 Update

DCPH COVID-19 Daily Update

For the week of Saturday, August 27, through Friday, September 2, Denton County Public Health (DCPH) confirmed 1,667 new cases of COVID-19, 1,726 recoveries, and zero COVID-19 deaths, resulting in 58 fewer active cases.

Denton County is at a low COVID-19 community level, based on new COVID-19 hospital admissions, existing inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients, and new COVID-19 case rates in Denton County,  with data available at dentoncounty.gov/COVIDstats. DCPH also provides daily COVID-19 updates, including detailed data for cases, recoveries, and jurisdictions online.

The CDC now recommends everyone 12 and older with a completed COVID-19 vaccine series receive a bivalent booster. This new booster targets both the original strain of coronavirus and the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants. DCPH is updating the online scheduling system and awaiting shipments of this new vaccine to offer to eligible community members. For immediate access, visit vaccines.gov/search to find a provider near you for vaccination.

For ongoing updates about how to schedule your bivalent booster with DCPH, please visit DentonCounty.gov/vaccine. If you received a previous dose with DCPH, please do not register on the Vaccine Interest Portal again. You will use your existing COVID-19 vaccine portal for scheduling.

To minimize spread of COVID-19, DCPH urges community members to:

  • Get vaccinated and boosted when eligible
  • Test five days after exposure or if you have symptoms of COVID-19
  • Isolate, quarantine, and wear a mask when recommended
