[ARCHIVED] Denton County Public Health Employee Selected for National Population Health Program

DCPH Press release

Denton County Public Health (DCPH) employee Jennifer Romaszewski has been selected as one of nine individuals across the country to participate in the 2020 Population Health Training in Place Program (PH-TIPP) sponsored by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  During this 1-year, on-the-job professional development opportunity, participants engage in a training experience using projects from their day-to-day work.  Participants receive formal mentoring and training from experts, both internal and external to CDC, while staying in their current positions.

“Population health is what we do, and we are proud of our staff members who raise the bar each and every day,” stated Dr. Matt Richardson, Director of DCPH.  “Being selected for this program is an honor, not just for Jennifer, but for our entire department.  We are excited about how this experience translates into program improvements across all of DCPH.”

PH-TIPP training uses evidence-based approaches to help participants develop and enhance their population health skills and add value to their organizations.  PH-TIPP also provides formal training in program evaluation as well as policy analysis and development.  Organizations with employees selected for PH-TIPP can then more effectively apply population health practices to protect and improve the health of their communities.

Participants are responsible for coordinating and carrying out work projects established by their organizations, thus adding value to the organization as they learn to design, launch, and assess health improvement programs to positively impact health outcomes.  Participants complete pre-orientation coursework, participate in an orientation with CDC and the PH-TIPP program, submit a work plan, provide monthly updates to fellow participants, CDC leadership, and their on-site supervisor, participate in monthly lectures online during the training year, and complete two work projects over the course of the year.  In response to COVID-19, this year’s orientation is held virtually on August 10-14, 2020.
