What We Do

The Environmental Health Division of Denton County Public Health administers the Denton County on-site sewage facility (OSSF) order per the Texas Administrative Code and Texas Water Code throughout the unincorporated portions of Denton County. This involves reviewing OSSF designs, issuing permits to construct, conducting specialized final inspections, and enforcing the applicable rules and regulations. We advise contractors and property owners of essential public health protection practices. We carry out our duties by respecting citizens, maintaining fiscal responsibility, demonstrating accountability, and fairly and equitably allocating resources.

What Environmental Health Is?

Environmental Health is the real-life application of biological and physical sciences to promote and protect man’s health, safety, and well-being by applying technical knowledge as the solution to problems of a sanitary nature and developing methods for the hygienic management of man’s environment.

The Denton County Health Inspectors

Generally, the sanitarians (health inspectors) perform responsible supervisory and sanitation work. We promote adequate improvements in sanitation on public and private premises. We also investigate complaints on properties with existing OSSFs. Denton County inspectors conduct our actions in a courteous and respectable manner-ever vigilant to observe and respect personal and private liberties due to every citizen of Denton County.
