Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP)

Program Description

The Denton County Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program (JJAEP) was created pursuant to Senate Bill 1, passed by the Texas Legislature in 1995. Students are placed in this program after being expelled from the regular school setting. Students may also be placed in the program by order of the Juvenile Court.

Expelled Students

JJAEP will provide educational services for the following expelled students:

  • Mandatory Expulsions - Texas Education Code, Section 37.007(a), (d), and (e)
  • Permissive Expulsions - Texas Education Code, Section 37.007(b), (c) and (f)
