General Information

The office of the County Auditor is a statutory, appointed position charged with general oversight of the financial operations of the County. The office works in conjunction with the following departments to provide services primarily to the other offices in the County:

Term, Salary & Duties

The County Auditor is appointed to a two-year term of office by the District Judges in the County. The County Auditor serves at the discretion of the Judges. The Judges set the County Auditor’s salary as well as the salaries of the Auditor’s staff.

The duties of the County Auditor include:

  • Accounting
  • Accounts payable processing
  • Budgetary control
  • Debt management
  • Financial reporting
  • Internal auditing
  • Other financial duties

All these duties are established under the primary statutory responsibility of the County Auditor, which is to ensure that the laws regarding County finances are strictly enforced.
