Fire Service Memorial Committee

Annual Denton County Firefighters Memorial Service

  • Denton County Fire Departments gather at a public service in October each year to pay tribute to their brother and sister firefighters who have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.
  • The service begins in the main sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Denton. A keynote speaker presents thoughts about the sacrifices and dangers that face every firefighter, day in and day out.
  • After the service, members of local departments form a processional at the church and walk to the Denton County Firefighters Memorial Park located in the 200 Block of W Mulberry Street. Another speaker conducts a solemn tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters.
  • Each fire department is honored by a public introduction at the memorial.
  • Denton County is served by 27 fire departments made up of volunteer, combination and career firefighters.
