Annual Denton County Firefighters Memorial Service
Denton County Fire Departments gather at a public service in October each year to pay tribute to their brother and sister firefighters who have paid the ultimate price by sacrificing their lives in the line of duty.
The service begins in the main sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church in Denton. A keynote speaker presents thoughts about the sacrifices and dangers that face every firefighter, day in and day out.
After the service, members of local departments form a processional at the church and walk to the Denton County Firefighters Memorial Park located in the 200 Block of W Mulberry Street. Another speaker conducts a solemn tribute to our fallen brothers and sisters.
Each fire department is honored by a public introduction at the memorial.
Denton County is served by 27 fire departments made up of volunteer, combination and career firefighters.
