Duties

The Constable and the deputies have all the powers and responsibilities of any peace officer in the state. They may write tickets, make arrests, conduct investigations, and file criminal charges. However, they have additional enforcement responsibilities that regular street police officers do not have. The Constable and his deputies have the additional responsibility of serving and executing Civil Court orders.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists all federal, state and local law enforcement agencies
  • Assists the Texas Attorney Generals Office, the District Attorneys Office and Probation Departments with making arrests
  • Executes civil process and writs
  • Executes warrants
  • Makes arrests and detains suspects
  • Patrols area and maintains awareness of the Precinct for crime prevention.
  • Performs traffic enforcement duties
  • Prepares all court documents for return after execution
  • Provides enforcement at civil standbys (By Court order only)
  • Provides security for the Courthouse and serves as bailiff
