The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Award-winning Denton County Operating Budget provides information about each County department, including descriptions of departmental activities, departmental goals for the current fiscal year, financial trends, performance and productivity measures, staffing trends and authorized position details.
The Operating Budget does not provide line item details like the Adopted Budget document, but it does provide extensive historical and statistical details about the varied operations and services provided by Denton County, as well as outlining budget policies and procedures, providing overviews of the County organization, and summarizing the County’s Fund Accounting system.
In order to receive the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, Denton County publishes the Operating Budget which is then judged against established GFOA program criteria. This document must be judged to be effective as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communications device.
