The Denton County District Attorney’s Office welcomes current law school and post-bar applicants to become an intern with our office. The internship program enables the intern to gain first-hand exposure to the criminal justice system and local law enforcement in Denton County. The internship also puts the intern at an advantage over other candidates for open positions within the office after the intern becomes a licensed attorney.
Internship assignments are unpaid and based upon the student’s interests, skills, and the needs of the office.
Functions
WORK WITH ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEYS
Students work closely with Assistant District Attorneys and other staff who are:
- Analyzing pending legislation
- Assisting with investigations
- Processing, investigating and prosecuting criminal cases
- Providing support to crime victims
- Shadow ADAs in the courtroom, including trials, dockets and hearings
APPLICANT INFORMATION
Applicants should have a solid academic record, but we consider academic performance to be only one indicator of an applicant’s potential. Equally important are the qualities of personal character, integrity, judgment, and maturity. Prior leadership experience and a demonstrated commitment to public service and the community are valued qualities. We encourage students to have taken at least one criminal law-related class.
Applicants will be considered after completing the forms available on this page. Email Lindsey Sheguit, lindsey.sheguit@dentoncounty.gov, your resume along with a cover letter for consideration in this exclusive program.
