Denton County Scouts now have the opportunity to earn this Eagle-required badge with our office through 3 scheduled meetings at the historic Courthouse on the Square in Denton this spring. Scouts who sign up will get to tour the Courthouse on the Square (including the clock tower), interview Denton County Commissioner Ryan Williams, and, upon completion of their merit badge, receive an exclusive “I’m a Denton County Scout” hanging patch!

Saturday, March 4, 2023 11AM - Welcome Meeting

Short description of each meeting:
Welcome Meeting - Scouts will bring in prepared prerequisite materials and start working with merit badge counselors on their Citizenship in the Community Merit badge. After a brief meeting, scouts and parents will take a tour of the Courthouse on the Square, which includes an exclusive tour of the clock tower.
The Interview - Scouts will bring in proof of the discussed tasks from the Welcome Meeting to share with merit badge counselors. Scouts will have the opportunity to interview local Denton County Commissioner for Precinct 1, Ryan Williams, during this meeting to fulfill the merit badge requirement step 4b.**
Final Presentations - Scouts will bring in and present final presentations to fellow scouts and merit badge counselors.
**Commissioner Williams is only available to scouts for interviews during this allotted time frame. If your scout is unable to attend this meeting, they will have to make alternative arrangements to interview a government official on their own.
