Unit 1 of the Denton County Jail is comprised of three sections, Main Jail, PODS, and Barracks.
- The Main Jail opened in 1986 and is a linear style jail. The Main Jail is staffed by one lieutenant, three sergeants, six corporals, and detention officers over two 12-hour shifts and has a capacity of 257 inmates, both male and female.
- The Pods opened in 1994 and is a direct supervision style jail where officers are assigned inside each Pod 24 hours per day. This area has a capacity of 48 inmates per Pod. We currently have eight pods for a total capacity of 384 inmates.
